The Society of the Plastics Industry Inc. is developing an iPad application to help companies and employees tout the benefits of plastics and the positive impact the industry has on jobs and the US economy.
The new Plastics Champion application will allow users to pull up information on critical issues -- such as plastic bags, trade and energy -- plus facts, figures and statistics on the job and economic impact of the plastics industry in each of the 435 Congressional House districts.
“We’ll have a web-based version first with the iPad application sometime this fall,” said SPI President and CEO Bill Carteaux.
Carteaux unveiled plans for the application at SPI’s vinyl compounders conference, part of the Washington-based trade group’s vinyl products division. The meeting was held 16-18 July in Annapolis.
“We’d like to see all 900,000 workers in the industry use this,” he said.
