Yate-based food packaging manufacturer, Sharpak, produced three million pink punnets as part of a pink range offered by Tesco to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.
Cancer Research UK is Tesco’s chosen charity for 2012 and together they hope to raise £10m to fund 32 early diagnosis and detection research projects across the UK.
Managing director of Sharpak UK, Andrew Copson, said: “During tighter times when many people have to focus their household budgets entirely on domestic essentials, initiatives like these pink punnets provide an attractive and easy way for shoppers to do their bit without breaking the bank.
“We hope this initiative helps Tesco and Cancer Research UK reach their £10m target to help fund early diagnosis and detection research projects and we wish them every success in their mission.”
The pink punnets were sold throughout September at all Tesco stores as part of a range of pink products produced in aid of Cancer Research UK with a donation from each pack sold being made to the charity. The range included sushi, a dip and soup, cupcakes and specially packaged onions.
